Q.01:- What is a tissue?

Ans:- Tissue is a group of related cells that have a common origin and perform a common function.

Q.02:- What is the utility of tissues in multicellular organisms?

Ans:- (Ñ–) Division of Labour :- Tissues bring about division of labour in multicellular organisms. It increases efficiently.

(ⅱ) Higher Organisation :- Tissues become organised to form organs and organ systems.

(ⅲ) Individual Cells :- Work load of individual cells has decreased.

(ⅳ) Higher Survival :- Because of division of labour, higher efficiency and organization, the multicellular organisms have high survival.

Ans:- (i) Cells/Fibers :- They are small, cylindrical, uninucleate striated with short lateral branches.

(ⅱ) Intercalated Discs :- In the area of union between the two adjacent cardiac muscle fibers, zig-zag junctions called intercalated discs develop. The intercalated discs function as impulse boosters.

(ⅲ) Rhythmic Contractions :- The muscles are involuntary and nonfatigued which continue to contract and relax tirelessly throughout life.

Q.10:- What are the function of areolar tissue?

Ans:- Functions of areolar tissue :-

  • The areolar tissue help to hold the organs in the place and act as a packaging tissue.
  • The layer of skin or the epithelial tissue is connected with the other tissues like blood vessels with the help of these tissues.
  • Repair of damaged tissues.
